KSA

We were approached to redesign the brand identity of Kerry Smith Architects (KSA).

The brief was clear: create a minimal design with character, that effectively displays the award-winning work within the practice. The existing brand was a bit cluttered, with multiple elements that didn't add much value to the overall aesthetic. Our approach was to streamline the look and feel of the brand while highlighting the exceptional work that KSA produces.

We began with a comprehensive review of KSA's existing brand and website, which unearthed several key areas in need of improvement.  In close collaboration with the team at KSA, we developed a new brand strategy, which included refining their brand messaging which accurately reflected their values, design philosophy, and approach to their work. The updated logo design is bold and eye-catching, while also remaining minimal and refined. The resultant conveys the character of the practice, and the texture is a subtle hint of the industry.

The new website features a simple and elegant design, with large, high-resolution images that highlight the studio's projects. The color scheme is neutral, with a focus on legibility and white space, which allows the work to speak for itself. The typography is clean and modern, and the overall look and feel is refined and professional.

A big focus within this project was the redesign of the KSA’s physical identity, including the design of business cards, stationery, letterhead, meeting sheets, invoices, and a CAD (Computer Aided Design) drawing package. The face of the practice in Montrose was also reinvented with the design of a new shopfront that served as a gallery and client meeting space, complete with a new led backlit store signage and 3D printed models, which are on display within the window gallery.
